Overview

Day of the Dead (Día de Los Muertos) is a vibrant Mexican holiday where elaborate altars honor loved ones, often decorated with flowers, photographs, and Calavera (sugar skulls). I was tasked with creating a design for fresh flower sleeves and potted plants that would appeal to consumers celebrating this holiday, while also serving as a fill-in Halloween option for a broader audience.

The Calavera motif is an iconic symbol of the holiday. Typically colorful, I faced the challenge of creating a compelling design using only two colors due to printing limitations. I also ensured the pattern was seamless, with no visible start or end lines, and versatile enough to work on both flower sleeves and pre-folded potted plant covers.
